Living and leading in our world has never been more challenging. With numerous competing worldviews in our culture, how do we know what to believe and what we can trust? How do we lead our families, friends, and peers to know the truth and to live freely by it. Join Senator John Crane and our Connection Pointe worldview team for this 10-week elective to learn and grow with others who are seeking the same answers.

Week 1 (Jan. 17) – Introduction: Engaging Today’s Culture

This introductory lesson sets the trajectory for the rest of this foundational series by helping class members better understand our times and know what to do.

Week 2 (Jan. 24) – Understanding Your Influence

Every person is a potential leader whether they realize it or not. This lesson introduces essential ideas about leadership in order to help each class member recognize why their influence matters.

Week 3 (Jan. 31) – The Distinctives of Effective Leadership

An effective leader embodies certain distinctive qualities. This lesson evaluates those necessary distinctives and shows why they are essential for effective influence.

Week 4 (Feb. 7) – Worldviews: Leading Within the Cultural Wilderness

The human experience is our leadership environment. This lesson outlines the idea that if we are live and lead well, we must ultimately understand the true reality of our world.

Week 5 (Feb. 14) – God: Is He Real? Is He Able? Is He Good?

Every good leader must first learn to follow. This lesson invites us to better understand the Great Designer in order to understand the world He created and more effectively lead within it.

Week 6 (Feb. 21) – Truth: Finding the Right Path to the Good Life

Do we each determine our own path through life, or do we simply discover that preexisting path which has been available to us all along? This lesson confronts our culture’s moral relativity and reinforces the need for a compass by which to determine the right path toward the truly Good Life.

Week 7 (Feb. 28) – The Bible: Can I Trust the Compass?

Can we really trust the Bible as our True North? This lesson provides the foundation for relying firmly on God’s Word to point the way forward through life.

Week 8 (Mar. 7) – Self-Equipping: How to Read and Study the Bible

In an age of biblical illiteracy, our compass for life only works if we understand it and know how to use it. This lesson provides a very practical framework for learning and applying God’s Word.

Week 9 (Mar. 14) – Contemporary Issue (TBD)

If we are to lead into our culture, we must be able to effectively apply a biblical framework to the pressing issues of our day. This lesson—to be determined by the class members—will unpack a contemporary issue for analysis and application.

Week 10 Mar. 21) – Living On Mission: Leading Within One’s Calling and Vocation

What does it mean to live on mission? This lesson explores the concept of “a life on mission” and how discovering our calling and giftedness can confirm our life’s purpose.
